Lucas is 8!
Lucas celebrated his birthday earlier this week. It happened to be a public holiday. A few neighbours came over to wish him and stayed on for hours to play games on the Play Station. He had fun or at least not bored. He gets iPad for unlimited time on his birthday, and Play Station. The night before, after he went to sleep, I decorated the house. I put up some Happy Birthday buntings. And I put the balloons on a place where he will go first thing in the morning - in front of the TV.
When he saw in the morning, he came to me (I was still asleep) and said
Lucas: I saw the decoration. Thank you.
Me: Do you like it?
Lucas: Yes
A few minutes later, Chloe came to me and whispered
Chloe: Why on my birthday, I only have 1 decoration (1 bunting) and why kor kor gets so many?
Me: Errr... I will do more decoration for your next birthday, ok.
Chloe: OK.
Chloe: Do you remembered on my birthday, kor kor gets a present? A sword which he still has it in the blue basket?
Me: Huh?
She was hinting to me why didn't she get a present on her brother's birthday but the brother got a present on her birthday! I completely forgot about that. I did not spend much time looking or thinking of the present to buy to Lucas. And what more to say about for Chloe. When the grandparents came later, thank goodness the grandparents got a present for Chloe too! That saved my day.
We had birthday cake for tea-time and went to his favourite Japanese restaurant. A restaurant we frequented so often that we even get a membership card for him. He gets 10% off for each visit and 20% off on his birthday week.
We gave him a crystal making set and his grandparents gave him a Hex Bug. The Hex Bug does keep him occupied for the next few days.
When later during bedtime, I asked:
Me: Lucas, now that you are 8, when you are going to sleep on your own bed?
Lucas: Never. Maybe when I die, you can put my coffin on the bed and bury the bed with me.
Me: What a waste of space to bury your bed?
Lucas: When will you die?
Me: I don't know.
Chloe: Dad will die first, then Mom, then Aunty C (my maid), then you (Lucas) and me.
Lucas: Chloe, it does not follow the age. It depends on how you take care of yourself.
Now, where did he learn that?
His RM300 to buy what he wants - he spent the remaining US$40 to buy virtual gems for his iPad game, Growtopia. I asked why would you want to use real money to buy virtual gems. He then gave hundreds of reasons what he can do with the gems. I should change career and learn to write games.
