Getting Closer

I have been getting gifts for the second baby, and that tells me the day is not very far away. My mother-in-law already buying cute pink shirts, dresses and socks. She said, 'I figured the baby will be getting Lucas's hand-me-down. So I bought a few cute dresses'. Very thoughtful of her and yes the baby will be getting mostly hand-me-down.

Mr Neat

Lucas is a very neat and tidy person - unlike his parents. The way he arranges his cars will tell you a thousand word...

Preparing Lucas for the arrival of his baby sister

Many friends asked us what do we do to prepare Lucas for the arrival of his baby sitter. At first, we were quite puzzled. It was like what....we have to do that. So, we asked around and tried to read the parenting book. To be honest, there is not much written and every parents have their own methods.
We tried a few methods ourselves. First, we asked Lucas if he wants a 'mey mey' (baby sister). He said 'No'. He associates 'mey mey' with my niece whom he called 'mey mey'. So, we stopped using the word 'mey mey' to ease the confusion. We then asked if he wants a baby sister. Most of the time, he ignored the question. Once, he replied 'I want only 1 baby sister. I don't want 2 baby sisters!' We gladly said yes, you are only getting 1 baby sister.
I showed him my big tummy and told him numerous times that his baby sister is sleeping inside. When I asked him the question, 'Where is your baby sister?', he ignored the question most of the time. Once or twice, he will point at my tummy and said 'There'.

Hmm...I don't think he quite get the concept yet. I suppose it will only sink into him after the baby is born. I can tell that he will be extra clingy once the baby arrives. It would be Mummy this..and Mummy that.

Suburb Activities

Now that we live in a suburb, we have different activities for Lucas. Weekends late afternoon are spent on walking around the park in the neighbourhood.

Cycling...wait, I am camera shy.

Running...Mummy why are you so slow?

I am all sweaty and thirsty- need my water.

I'm Big and Tall Already

When Lucas refused to eat his vegetables, we tell him 'Vegetables make you big and tall'. When he made a big fuss about going to bed, we tell him we 'You will grow big and tall when you sleep'. Yesterday, on the car ride home, he had his 20 mins power nap in the car. When we get home, I put him on his bed. After tossing around for an hour, he finally walked to me and said 'I am big and tall already'. This cheeky boy, instead of saying 'I do not want to sleep', which he knows well I will make him go back to his bed, said he is big and tall. Very soon, he will out-talk us.

3 kgs in 5 Weeks

I managed to break my own record by gaining 3 kgs in 5 weeks! When I visited the gynae yesterday, his first comment was 'You have been eating a lot'. I shameful admitted my own action. I thought the baby was underweight and has been trying very hard to put on weight, not knowing how damaging it can get. Out of the 3 kgs, 600 grams go to the baby and the remaining 2.4 kgs go to me!! Now, I am more conscious with what I eat. The baby is lying horizontally when I had my scan yesterday, and it about 3 inches below my belly button...that's how low my tummy is. When I asked the gynae if the baby has turned down, his classic reply was 'At this time, they can be in any position anytime.' Counting down...29 weeks and 11 weeks (or less) to go.

When I am on headset, he wants to be on headset too.

Keeping himself busy watching TV and pushing his stroller.

He and his precious pebble stones.

It is so hot and 'smelly' in the Zoo

His favourite activity - pushing his stroller.

Singapore

We spent the Labour Day weekend in Singapore. Since the holiday falls on a Friday, we thought of making my last trip before I am too heavy to go anywhere. In fact, I am already heavy..put on 8kg in 7 months and the baby is very low, hence putting a lot of pressure on my pelvic. I have been limping while walking, and finally decided to get a support belt. I bought a Emma Jane support belt and must said it does relieve some back pain. When the back is stronger, the pelvic area doesn't hurt so much and made walking a bit easier. However, I wasn't sure if the belt is going to affect the baby's comfort as I have the belt stripped on my lower belly. Each time I had the belt on, the baby seems to move a lot more.

Back to Singapore, we took Lucas to the Zoo. I arranged to meet up some college friends and their kids in the Zoo. It was a nice reunion with old friends. In the Zoo, Lucas is not interested in the animals at all. Nothing seems to excite him - not the lion, tiger or the polar bear. All he was interested in is pushing his stroller. This was Lucas's second trip to the Zoo and it is confirmed that he is not an animal person. The first trip was to the A'Famosa Zoo and he asked to go home after 45 mins. I supposed this is a blessing in disguise. He will not be asking to keep a pet at home - I am not an animal person myself.

After the experience in the Zoo, we figured the Botanic Garden would be better choice, and we were right. He was just happy and contented to push his stroller in the Botanic Garden. Here, we do not have to worry if his stroller is going to hit anyone as there is enough space for everyone and it doesn't costs us anything.

Lucas likes colours and shapes, and we are still wondering where would be an ideal place to take him. Arts gallery or museum?

Whilst we were in Singapore, we did some shopping of course. I do not know why but somehow shopping in Singapore is a lot more satisfying. Things are not necessary cheaper than KL. Maybe the varieties available and the sales services provided. The sales people know what they are selling and give good info on the products. The brand selection is also a lot more. During my 45 mins shopping spree, I managed to buy bedsheets, hand towels, Lucas's shoes and pyjamas, water tumbler while Dominic kept Lucas busy at the Mothercare's toy department.
