Pictures from Singapore Trip

When I am on headset, he wants to be on headset too.

Keeping himself busy watching TV and pushing his stroller.

It is so hot and 'smelly' in the Zoo

Singapore

We spent the Labour Day weekend in Singapore. Since the holiday falls on a Friday, we thought of making my last trip before I am too heavy to go anywhere. In fact, I am already heavy..put on 8kg in 7 months and the baby is very low, hence putting a lot of pressure on my pelvic. I have been limping while walking, and finally decided to get a support belt. I bought a Emma Jane support belt and must said it does relieve some back pain. When the back is stronger, the pelvic area doesn't hurt so much and made walking a bit easier. However, I wasn't sure if the belt is going to affect the baby's comfort as I have the belt stripped on my lower belly. Each time I had the belt on, the baby seems to move a lot more.

Back to Singapore, we took Lucas to the Zoo. I arranged to meet up some college friends and their kids in the Zoo. It was a nice reunion with old friends. In the Zoo, Lucas is not interested in the animals at all. Nothing seems to excite him - not the lion, tiger or the polar bear. All he was interested in is pushing his stroller. This was Lucas's second trip to the Zoo and it is confirmed that he is not an animal person. The first trip was to the A'Famosa Zoo and he asked to go home after 45 mins. I supposed this is a blessing in disguise. He will not be asking to keep a pet at home - I am not an animal person myself.

After the experience in the Zoo, we figured the Botanic Garden would be better choice, and we were right. He was just happy and contented to push his stroller in the Botanic Garden. Here, we do not have to worry if his stroller is going to hit anyone as there is enough space for everyone and it doesn't costs us anything.

Lucas likes colours and shapes, and we are still wondering where would be an ideal place to take him. Arts gallery or museum?

Whilst we were in Singapore, we did some shopping of course. I do not know why but somehow shopping in Singapore is a lot more satisfying. Things are not necessary cheaper than KL. Maybe the varieties available and the sales services provided. The sales people know what they are selling and give good info on the products. The brand selection is also a lot more. During my 45 mins shopping spree, I managed to buy bedsheets, hand towels, Lucas's shoes and pyjamas, water tumbler while Dominic kept Lucas busy at the Mothercare's toy department.

Pulau Ketam

The kids are getting ready for the boat ride

Walking like 'big brother'

2 weeks ago, we got our bumps off the house and actually made a trip to Pulau Ketam (Crab Island). We have been talking about making this day trip but was just too lazy until a friend invited us along.
It was Lucas first boat ride and he was very excited. Now and then, he will ask, 'Are we going to the boat?' when we told him we are going out. The island has nothing to see or do. We took the 30 mins boat ride, ate seafood (verdict of the food is so so) walked for 20 mins, and then took the boat ride home. The saving grace was the weather. It was so darn hot the past few weeks but on the day we made the trip, it was actually nice and breezy in the island. That makes the trip worth it.

Weekend in Penang

We drove to Penang on Friday and returned on Sunday. It was a very pleasant and relaxing trip. I did nothing much except than eat and sleep and chat. The reason for the trip was to catch up with some relatives, and to 'show' to relatives how much Lucas has grown since they last saw him in April. Lucas was of course very well behaved when he wants to. He was very friendly and happy throughout the stay. And yes, he impresses them again. The relatives also spoilt him with some delicious home cook food....cookies, tasty porridge.
Lucas has 2 young cousins in Penang. One is 7 years old and another is 7 months old. The 7 years old cousin wanted to play with him but Lucas is too young to know it. The cousin ended up watching Lucas play on his own. And the 7 months old is too young to know what's going on. It will be better when Lucas is a bit older. Maybe by then, the older cousin will find him too 'kiddie'.
We have not been taking a lot of photos of Lucas. Part of the reason is we do not go somewhere special, and secondly, we are getting lazy. Even the new DSLR did not excite Dominic to click away.

Last Week

Last weekend was our last weekend in LA. Dominic was off on Friday and we took the opportunity to do last minute activities. We went shopping on Friday..mostly Lucas's items and gifts. Bought him some toys and clothes. I am going to miss children shopping here. The clothes are adult looking (not necessary cartoon all over the place) yet so cute, and toy varieties are plentiful. Saturday was a long day. We went to Irvine, an hour drive from here to visit friends, Yee Hooi and Seng Kee. We intended to stay until 6 pm but instead got home at 11pm. It was a good trip. Went to Corona Del Mar (a beach) and ate very good Chinese noodles, and more importantly catching up. Sunday was spent at Long Beach Aquarium. Went with Isis, Maricel, Cymbie, Anastasia, Azan and Phil. I was a bit skeptical at first if Lucas is going to like it as he did not like Getty Museum. Lucas loved it. He was all excited and did not want to sit on his stroller. He wanted to be carried to get better view, and managed to stay awake for the whole outing despite being tired from Saturday's trip. Glad we did it.
