What a Difference!

Lucas has become a terror or rebel. Lately, he has been doing things unimaginable. He digs is nose until it bleeds. I told him to blow it out hard, but he still put his finger there. And this is not the first time his nose bleeds. Then he started playing with his saliva! Gosh....where did he get the idea! I threatened to apply some chili on his finger if he keeps digging his nose. Then I went further to threaten him by saying I will tell his teacher and he will get call by his principal. He was like 'Don't you dare go tell my teacher'. All these dramas happen before 8am in the morning!

Meanwhile, Chloe is the sweet thing...for now. She will say 'Good morning', 'I'm going to take my bath now. See you later.' Hope it lasts for a looonnng time.

Well, Lucas was a sweet little kid too before Chloe comes along....

Best Hiding Place in the House

My kids like to hide behind my bedroom curtain. Don't ask why. I suppose the thrill of walking along the window and know that nobody can see you, and then the few blind-fold seconds as they try to expose themselves.

Lucas hiding behind the curtain when he was 2+ year old.

Chloe hiding behind the same curtain recently.

Family of 4

At night, when we go to bed, there are only 2 of us (me and Dominic) on our bed. When we wake up, there are 4 of us on our bed ! (me, Dominic, Lucas and Chloe - the whole family)

Lucas without fail will 'sleep walk' to our bed with his pillow in the middle of every night.

Chloe will run to our bed the minute she wakes up and know how to open her door. Here we are in a bed for 4 !!

Enjoying their strawberries or 'sto-ry' as how Chloe would say it.

Front Seat

I did not noticed something at all until this morning. Lucas made a big fuss this morning when I sent him to school. He wanted me to take the car without his car seat. He insisted that I put his booster seat in the front seat. We usually took the car with his carseat planted at the backseat. At 8am in the morning, I am in no mood to scold. So, I gave in and did what he says.
On the journey to school, he was so amused. When I pressed any buttons, he will ask what are the buttons for. He asked almost what are all the buttons for - to wind down windows, screen mist remover, the clock, the radio stations etc. Then he said 'Mommy, I can see so much things here'. It strikes me then that he was always at the backseat and had his view partially blocked by the driver and front seat.

When Daddy found out about this, Daddy was not so amused. Daddy said no more front seat until he is 12 years old. Good luck Daddy. Try convincing him.

Things that They Do

This is what happened when Lucas refused to take the afternoon lap....
At 6+pm, when Dominic took him for a ride, he comes back in this state

Sound asleep in the bicycle seat.

While they were out riding bicycle, I put on skirt for Chloe to try on. Then I was out for 2-3 mins to snap the picture of Lucas sleeping on the bicycle seat, and this is what happened to her skirt...

The skirt went up...so unfeminine. Dominic was saying 'Aiyor...which boy wants to go out with you?'

Posing with his Sunglasses

Last weekend was quite exciting for Lucas. We got him a pair of sunglasses (he insisted on this pair of sunglasses despite being a bit too big for him) and he has been happily wearing it. He was wearing it to his school concert and even posed for Dominic to snap some photos.

Aren't I cool?

All dressed up to go for his school concert.

Driving his cabriolet Beetle, as he called his car.

Novelty wears off fast. Today is Monday and he has not asked for his sunglasses. And his cabriolet Beetle is having battery problem today.

Be Patient

I'm sure most parents get a taste of their own medicine. Things or words that the parents used on the kids eventually come back to haunt the parents.
I have a classic example. When Lucas insist on wanting something right away, I will tell him to be patient. 2 days ago, I got the taste of my own medicine.

Lucas: (watching the second episode of Mickey Mouse clubhouse at 9+ pm)
Me: Lucas, enough TV. Go to sleep now.
Lucas: I'm watching the second Mickey Mouse.
Me: It's late, please go to bed now.
Lucas: Mommy, be patient please. I want to watch the second Mickey Mouse.

Another incident:
Lucas: (15 mins after his bath, he is still playing in his bath tub)
Me: Lucas, enough. Get out of the bath tub.
Lucas: I'm making coffee for you and Daddy.
Me: I have enough coffee for today. Make it tomorrow. Go wear your pyjamas now.
Lucas: Be patient, I said I'm making coffee.

This boy really know how to use the word to his advantage.

I Cheated

Tonight, I wanted Lucas to go to bed early. He did not have his afternoon nap and was already sleepy during dinner. Most days, he will watch his Mickey Mouse Clubhouse from 8.30 - 9.00 pm. Then he will go to bed but will not fall asleep until 10pm. So, I 'brought' the Mickey Mouse show earlier. I played a pre-recorded Mickey Mouse at 7.45pm and it finished by 8.15pm. He then proceed to bed and fall asleep before 9pm...haha..what a cheeky mother am I. This trick will only work as long as he cannot tell the time. Hmmm..maybe I should not teach him to read the clock so soon!

This gives me time to blog and to read my book.

Just Let Her Cry

The true boss is back in action. At night, when I tried to put both of them to bed, which is a challenge, Chloe will cried asking to be carried. Sometimes, I get frustrated when I do not know which position she wants me to carry her. She will continue fussing even when I carried her. I will just put her in her baby cot and let her cry.

The true boss will say:
Lucas: Just let her cry, but don't let me cry.
Me: I will let both of you cry.
Lucas: No, let her cry but don't let me cry.
Me: Why are you so special?
Lucas: (smile)

Cheeky fella....

I Have No Time

Lucas new favourite phase is 'I have no time'.
When I asked him to fetch his sister handky, he said 'I have no time'.
When I waked him up in the morning to go to school, he said 'I have no time'.
When I asked him to go for his bath while he was watching Mickey Mouse Playhouse, he said 'I have no time'.
A true boss material!

Meanwhile, this is his first week of school after a month holiday. His grandfather is so kind to offer his chauffeuring service. But this boy is not used to having his grandfather sending him to school. To him, grandfather picks him up to go to grandparents house and go shopping, not to school. He makes fuss every morning, demanding that I go to the car with him. Next week, when I send him, we will see if he still make any fuss.

Cry Baby

Lucas has turned to a cry baby these few days. He doesn't talk but he cries. When he opened his eyes first thing in the morning, he cried and said 'I don't want the fan, I want air-con'. Then, he cried, "Mommy asked Kakak (the maid) the make milk and water'. After his milk, he cried again and said 'Mommy open the gate (children stairs gate). I want to go down'. 5 mins after he went downstairs, he will cried and said 'I want to go upstairs'. The grouses go on and on....and every grouses have crying tone to them...sigh... He is definitely feeling very jealous and neglected. I tried to be accommodating but I just cannot accommodate him all the time.
When I an feeding Chloe, he will come and said 'Mommy, I want to go pee'. He wants me to take off his pants and put him on his training toilet seat. I can't do that as I am holding Chloe and Chloe takes forever to feed herself. He does not want the maid and the confinement lady to help.
Very often, I lost my patience. I will just scold him after trying to explain to him numerous times. He is very insistence that I should attend to him and not Chloe - after all Lucas got my 24 hours attention until a month ago.....

Swimming and the fuss

Lucas had a water play in school today. So, yesterday I packed all his things and told him he is going to swim with his friends. He was all excited until we were in the school this morning. When we arrived at his school, his friends were all changed and ready to go to the pool. I tried to change him but he made such a big fuss! He refused to wear his swimming trunk nor swimming diaper. He kept crying and insisted that he wants to wear his school uniform. After half an hour commotion, he finally wore the swimming diapers and then his uniform over the diaper! He hasn't been to the pool since we moved here. Swimming pool is 5 mins drive away and no longer a lift ride. On top of that, we have to pack all his gears and clothes to change - a bit too cumbersome and also we are getting lazy. Looks like we cannot afford to be lazy now, else he will avoid the water completely. But then, the teacher said he was ok when they went to the pool. He agreed to wear this swimming trunk and enjoyed the water play. That is a relief!
When get home from school, another commotion took place. I gave him the choice of eating sandwich or rice for lunch. He took the sandwich and threw it on the floor. I said fine, you are eating rice then. He sat for 20 mins and only had 2 spoons of rice. I left him in his high chair and walked away. I told him to call me when he is done with his lunch. He took his plate and threw the rice on the floor. That was the last straw that break the camel's back. I locked him inside the bathroom for a few minutes. He wailed of course, then he pee-d on his pants. I changed him and put him on his bed. Threatened to lock him inside his room if he dares to get off his bed. He asked for water and I refused to budge him. Told him he has to sleep hungry today. He felt asleep within 5 mins.
Sigh....what a day. Wonder all these will teach him a lesson or will make him more determine to be more rebellious.

I'm Big and Tall Already

When Lucas refused to eat his vegetables, we tell him 'Vegetables make you big and tall'. When he made a big fuss about going to bed, we tell him we 'You will grow big and tall when you sleep'. Yesterday, on the car ride home, he had his 20 mins power nap in the car. When we get home, I put him on his bed. After tossing around for an hour, he finally walked to me and said 'I am big and tall already'. This cheeky boy, instead of saying 'I do not want to sleep', which he knows well I will make him go back to his bed, said he is big and tall. Very soon, he will out-talk us.

Lucas Helps Mummy

This morning, I was trying to get up from his bed. With my weight now, it is not as easy as it used to be. I was trying to sit up and was saying 'Mummy cannot get up now'. My little darling said 'Lucas help Mummy'. He walked over to my side and pushed me up! Just like what his Daddy would have done.
What a little and big darlings I have.

I Have Some Work To Do

Don't know where Lucas picked this phase up, but he sure knows how to use the context correctly.
When we is playing in the garden and I asked him to come in, he will say 'Lucas has some work to do.'
And recently, when I am working and he wanted to be near me, he will push a chair to be beside me and said 'Lucas has some work to do.'
And here are what are his work

Antics

Few incidents which surprised me.

Me: Lucas, do you want to go to school?
Lucas: NO
Me: Then, what do you want to do at home?
Lucas: Baby (watching his cartoon/singing CD).
He can be a TV addict if not controlled. I allowed him to watch TV for half an hour every other day.

My sister: Lucas, give some of your food to Tung Tung (my 2 months old niece).
Lucas: NO
My sister: You are so stingy.

Lucas: (Point at the door and said) Out.
Me: You eat your dinner first, then Mummy take you to the playground to blow bubbles.
After dinner...Lucas ran to me and said..
Lucas: Bubbles

Me: Lucas, do you want to go to Kung Kung's house?
Lucas: dog, fish, 'mum mum' (my parents has a dog, koi pond, and plenty of ice-cream waiting for him in the fridge).

Lucas farting...
Me: Are you farting?
Lucas: (smiled and said) puuurrrr

Lucas climbed and sat in his stroller...
Me: Where do you think you are going?
Lucas: (point at the door and said) OUT

Noticed how he communicates in his one syllabus word.
