Getting ready to return to the workforce
It has been almost six months now that I am in my unpaid maternity leave. Time to go back to work. I have been trying to update my CV for the past two weeks and still work in progress. Try to revamp the CV format to make it more attractive. Somehow, it is difficult as my five and a half month old son is not napping long enough for me to do serious work.
Talking about returning to work, I was talking to a headhunter the other day. These days, the headhunter care less about your requirements......sigh. As long as they can find some match, they will be more than pleased to quickly passed your phone number. Never mind if the potential job is a definite no no. One of my main requirement is no travelling, and yet the headhunter passed my name to a prospect employer whose first criteria is to be able to spend 2-3 days a week outstation! Wonder which part of my English this headhunter don't understand.
Me like any other mom is looking for a relatively 'easy' job. Possibly less overtime, no need to bring work home, no travelling. The best is to be able to work from home....no luck thus far. I am still looking.
My notebook conveniently went kaputt two weeks before I went for my maternity leave. And now I am trying to salvage my dear notebook. Yes....I have left the notebook kaputt for six months. Visited Low Yat and Digital Mall - received all kinds of possible reasons for the kaputt. Memory, hard disk, motherboard, LDC display....sounds like the whole notebook need an overhaul! Ahh...just but a new one. I spent a few hundred ringgit fixing my previous notebook only to find another new problem. Lesson learned - never spend money fixing notebook. These gadgets always give new problem when you think you have the problem fixed...like an old car.
I was thinking of getting a Toshiba but my husband said Vaio is nice. Yes, Vaio is sexy and so is the price. Anyway, I am not in a hurry yet - no job yet. There is always the dear home desktop.
