Lucas is back to Playschool

After 3 weeks of nursery hunting and trial classes, I finally found a playschool for him. The playschool is quite a drive from the house, 20 mins door-to-door, and toll is not cheap either. It is a very small school with total 11 kids and 2 teachers. The atmosphere is casual but the teacher is very firm, even with the parents. I realised the criteria for Lucas's playschool are when:
1) I asked him if he wants to come back, he has to say 'yes'.
2) on the third day, he let me off without crying

Lucas already figured out how to outsmart us when it comes to going to school. On weekends, we will wake up at 7+am. On weekdays, he will wake up at 9am, when the school starts at 8.30am! Kids are so unpredictable.

Walking like 'big brother'

2 weeks ago, we got our bumps off the house and actually made a trip to Pulau Ketam (Crab Island). We have been talking about making this day trip but was just too lazy until a friend invited us along.
It was Lucas first boat ride and he was very excited. Now and then, he will ask, 'Are we going to the boat?' when we told him we are going out. The island has nothing to see or do. We took the 30 mins boat ride, ate seafood (verdict of the food is so so) walked for 20 mins, and then took the boat ride home. The saving grace was the weather. It was so darn hot the past few weeks but on the day we made the trip, it was actually nice and breezy in the island. That makes the trip worth it.

Lucas Helps Mummy

This morning, I was trying to get up from his bed. With my weight now, it is not as easy as it used to be. I was trying to sit up and was saying 'Mummy cannot get up now'. My little darling said 'Lucas help Mummy'. He walked over to my side and pushed me up! Just like what his Daddy would have done.
What a little and big darlings I have.

I Have Some Work To Do

Don't know where Lucas picked this phase up, but he sure knows how to use the context correctly.
When we is playing in the garden and I asked him to come in, he will say 'Lucas has some work to do.'
And recently, when I am working and he wanted to be near me, he will push a chair to be beside me and said 'Lucas has some work to do.'
And here are what are his work

Easter Weekend

Hunting for his presents.

We had quite some activities over the Easter weekend. Dominic was back since Good Friday. We invited former neighbours over for dinner on Saturday night. Dominic cooked his signature dish, steak. On Sunday, we had cousins over for Easter brunch.
We also had a mini Easter Egg Hunt for Lucas. It was a hunt but not for eggs or chocolate. We hid presents (cars - he is into cars now).

Underweight

Lucas had his check-up and jab yesterday. Well, he is underweight...he is 12.3 kg and the doctor said he should be 12.8kg to be in the normal category. Sigh....what do to with him? He doesn't eat vegetables and hardly eat meat. He spit out even a small tiny piece. The grandparents think we gave him too much carbo. Good thing is he still like to eat fruits. Height wise, he is 95cm - a bit tall for his age.
He is also developing eczema and has dried skin. The doctor suggested that I use oil based shower gel and lotion. Just bought all the oil based products for him. It is not easy raising a kid, isn't it.
The good news during the doctor visit is he did not cry during his jab. Quite a tough boy.

Nursery Hunting Again

Now that we have moved, it is time to scout a nursery for Lucas again. I must said it is a tedious task. This new neighbourhood had limited choices and most of them are still quite inexperienced. I tried one last week, a franchise kindy. I find that the syllabus is a bit too heavy for a two and a half years old. There are half an hour of serious reading (with book and repeating after the teacher). Lucas can't even sit still for 10 mins!. The turn-off factor is the kindy is on a second floor shop lot, meaning there is no playground and outdoor activity for the kids. How can they not have that. I strike the kindy out.
Then I tried another kindy which is on a corner house. It is a neighbourhood type of kindy. The syllabus are very relax - basically play. However, I seems to have different school of thoughts from the teachers there. The teachers believe I should sneak off and let Lucas cried if Lucas refused to let me go. I think otherwise. I thought I should not sneak off. Lucas must know that I am leaving and pick him up later when he is crying. The teacher also has been bribing the kids with junk food and telling the kids grandmother's tale. Yesterday, Lucas said 'Everybody said cannot go under the sun'. I asked why. He said 'Get fever' and touched his forehead. Dominic was not impressed at all. Sigh....looks like I need to look for another nursery ...
