Settling Down

We are almost settled down in the new house. All boxes are unpacked except for a few cartons of books. Just ordered more book shelves and storage space. Meanwhile, there are a couple of nitty items to fix such as there is a leak in the bathroom and kitchen, some doors don't closed properly etc....

Meanwhile, it has been a tough adjustment for Lucas. The babysitter Lucas is used to is not with us anymore. We have the maid instead and Lucas is not so keen in her. Hopefully that will slowly change. I am sending Lucas to a new nursery for trial class this week. He is so active and I ran out of ideas on how to entertain him. Better to go to nursery and play with someone his age.

Lucas also get his own room - not sure if he is overjoy or upset about this though. He has been sleeping with us on our bed for the past few months, as he has outgrown his baby cot. It is a challenge to get him to sleep on his own bed and his own room. He wakes up a few times a night crying for me. This morning, he just walked quietly to my bed and sleep there, without my knowledge!! There are lots of drama during bedtime - threatening, cajoling, sweet talking but nothing seems to work so far. Wonder if he is too young to sleep on his own or too late to train him to sleep on his own.

We Have Moved

We moved last weekend and you will not believe how much possessions we have collected over the last six years...................94 cartons!!!
I couldn't believe it myself. We hired a mover, Crown Relocation to help us moved and I must said I am very pleased with their service.

These are only half the cartons. The rooms and kitchen were packed.

This is how it looks like 6 years ago when we first moved in, and now after we moved out.

We Are Moving

We are moving to our new house this weekend. It is going to be a big change and hopefully we will adjust well to the new home very soon.
It is kind of sad to move from our current apartment. We moved to this apartment on Christmas Eve 2002, the year we got married. It is a cozy 2 bedroom apartment at a very convenient location. This 1200 sq feet apartment serves us very well for the past 6 years. Amenities are aplenty and very near to each others. Everything under the sky is available within 5-10 mins away.
We started outgrown the apartment when Lucas outgrown his baby cot and when I started working from home. Lucas needed his own room with the proper bed and I need a room for my home office. Now that we are expecting the second kid in July (it is a girl!), we definitely need to move to a bigger home.
Luckily, we bought a house 3 years ago anticipating the growing family size. We had the new house renovated and ready to move in last Christmas. But we delayed the decision to move in. We were toying the idea of joining Dominic in Singapore. After 2-3 months deliberation, we finally made up our mind early last month to just move to the new house. So, we went ahead with our planning.
We applied for a maid and she arrived yesterday. Keeping my finger tightly crossed that she will be a help and not a nightmare. The new home is 4000 sq feet and there is no way I can manage the house cleaning on my own. The new home is in a new township, in the middle of nowhere at the moment. We are hoping the amenities will eventually build up in the next few years.
We are definitely going to miss the swimming pool which is just 3 floors down our apartment but we are getting a garden in the new house in return. I suppose you have to give some to take some...

Testing My Patience

As Lucas is growing up and understand more things, he is also testing my patience. With my hormones change, sometimes this is not working well. Two nights ago, I was trying to dress him after his bath, he insisted that he wanted to go out to see his water bottle. I was trying to finish dressing him up so that I can tuck him in his bed. I told him 'Your bottle is going to say shame shame, you are naked.' Guess what was his reply..................
'Bottle cannot talk. Bottle has no mouth.' I was flabbergasted. From now on, I cannot tell him the kiddy excuses anymore.

For the past 2 days also, he has been waking up in the middle of the night crying and then ask 'milk and water please'. Wasn't sure if he was having a nightmare or what. I tried to pat him back to sleep but it got worse. He will start kicking his legs. This morning at 5am, I lost my temper and scolded him.
Me: Why are you crying when you wake up?
Lucas: (cry louder and start kicking)
Me: If you want to cry, go outside and cry. Mummy wants to sleep.
Lucas: (cry louder and continue kicking)
Me: Stop it!
Lucas: (cry louder and continue kicking)
Me: (ignore him)
Lucas: (after 1-2 mins) Running eyes (i.e. his tears are rolling down his cheek).
Me: Take a tissue and wipe it.
Lucas: Mummy wipe.
Me: Mummy didn't ask you to cry. Wipe your own tears.
Lucas: Mummy wipe. (and I did). Milk and water please?
Me: No, it is too early.
Lucas: Milk and water please.
Me: No.
Lucas: Water only.
Me: (I gave in)

This is what's happening at an ungodly hour.
