New Year, New Improvements

It's the Ox year and so far, so good. There were so much happening and I just have not time or too tired to blog. Let's start with the New Year. I was looking forward to some 'free time' by planning to spend 2 days in my parent's house on first and second day. Unfortunately, I was downed with a very bad food poisoning on the first day. I barely have any energy to walk or do anything. Dominic was busy minding Lucas so that I can get some rest. There were quite a number of children in my parent's place but Lucas refused to play with them. He just stick to us like a koala bear. There goes my wishful thinking of some 'free time'. Dominic even commented to Lucas, 'Why are you so anti-social?'. I am beginning to wonder how can I make him more sociable. What have I not done enough? I have a one year old niece who called out for Lucas each time she sees him passes by. But this boy just refused to acknowledge or even bother look at his cousin.

However, this Chinese New Year he has learned to appreciate firecrackers i.e. the 'pop-pop' and the smaller rocket. He enjoys eating cookies especially the cookies with crushed peanuts. Despite all the new findings, he still doesn't know the concept of 'angpow' though. Maybe next year...

His potty training has improved as well. He still sleeps with his diaper but he is quite alright during his waking hours. Oh..once we were doing grocery shopping in Tesco and he needed to go to the toilet. I took him to the toilet but he refused to sit on the toilet. He said 'dirty', (Malaysia is not exactly known for clean toilet anyhow). We had to rush home to prevent any accident from happening.

Diaper free....partially

We have finally made some progress in potty training Lucas. He is now able to pee on the potty during daytime. So, when he is at home and not sleeping, he is daiperless. Yes...we are getting somewhere finally.

Calling Daddy by Name

Since Lucas has learned to say his Daddy's name, once in a while, he will call him by his name. One day he said, 'Do-minic, make milk and water please'. We were both shocked and afraid he will call Dominic from now on instead of Daddy. I told him, 'If you call Daddy Dominic you will not get your milk and water'. Lucas was puzzled with the firmness in my tone. He was probably wondering what's wrong calling Dominic because that is his Daddy's name. He stopped calling Daddy Dominic.

Yesterday, when he heard me calling Dominic by his name, he quickly protested and said 'Mommy call Dominic'. He must be thinking why can't he call Dominic but I can. I have to tell him that I can call Daddy Dominic but Lucas must call Daddy. I don't think he quite get it yet...

A New Year

Happy New Year everyone.
I was off from Christmas to New Year and Dominic is in town during that period. We have quite a family time. Lucas was definitely enjoying the 24 hours attention from both of us. Lucas actually stayed up until midnight to watch the fireworks. We were at Dominic's parents for the celebration. When the fireworks started, Lucas said 'colourful', much to the amazement of the adults in the party. Now, he is asking for fireworks everyday! It is hard to explain that new year countdown only comes once a year. Anyway, his speech is getting better. He can communicate quite well, and sometimes talks like an adult. He understand and know when to use 'after', 'before', 'already', not yet', 'later'. Some of the sentences he made are quite shocking, for me at least.
When it is getting cloudy, he will say 'The sun is underneath the cloud'.
When he wants me to stop nagging, he will say 'Mummy, don't talk'.
When we asked him to go to bed, he will say '10 minutes'.
When he wants to stay longer at his grandparents' place, he will say 'Daddy and Mummy pick up Lucas later'.
When he asks to go swimming at 8.30am, I tell him to wait for the sun to come out. He will reply 'The sun came out already'.

House renovation is almost completed. Hope to move in for Chinese New Year but before we can do so, we have to arrange for a baby sitter until we get a maid....no laughing matter - all these logistics arrangement.
