Fashionable Girl

Chloe is fashionable or vain, depending on how you view it. She is a truly girlie girl. At 3 year old, she loves accessories. Most days, she wear either bracelet or ring. Some days, she wears all - ring, bracelet and necklace. Let's just wait for her to ask for her ears to be pierced.

A few weeks ago, we took them to the indoor aquarium. After the visit, we were at a shopping mall. There is a shop which I wanted to check out, French Sole. So, I took her there, while Dominic took Lucas to the bookshop. After a few minutes in the store, she got up from the stroller and was busy browsing. I was busy trying shoes. When I asked her which pair of shoes is nice and without failed, she will choose the bright colour and with sparkles. Then the sales lady brought out a set of shoes for mother and daughter!! I must admit that design is nice. It is leopard print with red trimming. Really outstanding. Chloe put them on and fortunately they are too big for her. That shoes costs RM600 (US$200) after discount. Nevertheless, Chloe wore  them and walked all over the shop all the time. She walked to the mirror, looked at herself, walked to another mirror and admired herself again. Then Dominic called to ask if I was done. I told him over the phone that his daughter liked a pair of shoes that costs RM600. Dominic and Lucas arrived in the shop in a flash!

In the end, did we buy them?? NO.

Chloe and that pair of shoes.

Still wearing that pair of shoes. Luckily she did not make a fuss when I asked her to take them off before we leave.

Gingerbread Men

One of the plan in keeping the kids busy is to do baking. So, today, for the first time, we baked gingerbread men. I was pleased with the result. I goggled the recipe last week, and only had the chance to buy all the ingredients today. I had to buy the ginger men mould too. I prepared the dough while the kids were in school. When they got home, we finished the baking together. The kids enjoyed printing the cookie cutter, use the roller pin and of course the decoration.
The taste was good. The cookies were moist and soft and not too sweet. The only complain I have is the colour is not brown enough. Maybe because I use molasses sugar instead of dark brown sugar. Next improvement I have to make is in decorating the men.
Lucas was so pleased that we wanted to bring some for his teachers. I suggested maybe next week when we try the second time. He said no, he wants to bring them tomorrow.

See what Lucas wrote on the container cover.- 'love'

His other teacher. I'm happy that he has his teachers in his mind.

Chloe drew the smiley face with edible marker. Thought this marker is less messy than having icing sugar, but icing sugar is a lot more attractive.

Chloe happily drawing smiley faces on all the cookies.

Christmas Is Around the Corner

Yup, it is the festive season again. Less than one month to Christmas. So looking forward to the holidays. Between now and Christmas, I am planning to meet up with 3 groups of friends i.e. secondary classmates, colleagues from previous companies. Also having a party at home with the kids' playdates aka my mommies group. Will also be celebrating my Dad's 70th birthday and my sister registration of marriage. Really very happening!
I'm on vacation from work from 24th Dec 2012 to 6th Jan 2013. Planning to take the kids to Legoland and Hello Kitty World on first week of January. And lots of shopping to do! I'm updating my Christmas deco this year. The color theme is royal blue and silver. Bought some china and Christmas baubles, and now I need the similar color for my table runner, table cloth, napkins. Need to stock up my cellar too. Oh...the kids are very keen to bake gingerbread man and cookies. Need to get the ingredients soon to practice baking. I'll have to start writing down when I should do what or else I will never get around to do all.
In another 2 weeks, the kids are having their term break. One month holiday for them. Lucas's Mandarin teacher is away for a month, and Lucas has a lot of free time in his hand. He agreed to take up swimming lessons during his school holiday. The deal is once he can swim, we will go to Hard Rock Hotel again. That is his motivation. Now I need to find a swimming instructor for him. As for Chloe, I just found an Arts & Craft teacher for her. Chloe is the arty one. She can draw and color for hours! Thought this might make her happy.

More Money

Lucas is into his money mood again. He needed another 50 dollars to round up his collection. So, today he came to me and asked:

Lucas: Can you give me 50 dollars?
Me: NO!
Lucas: Why?
Me: You have to work to earn it.
Lucas: What can I do?
Me: If you wash my car, I give you 5 dollars. If you sweep the dried leaves from the garden, I'll give you 5 dollars.
Lucas: What can I do that is not a job?
Me: If you sleep in your own room for a week, I'll give you 5 dollars.
Lucas: If I clean the whole house, how much will you give me?
Me: 10 dollars.
Lucas: That's not fair. I have to work 16 hours to get 10 dollars!

Another conversation while I was drying his hair,

Me: Lucas, let's put the money from your wallet in the bank.
Lucas: No.
Me: Why? You can get interest if you put the money in the bank.
Lucas: What is interest?
Me: The bank will give you extra money for keeping the money in the bank.
Lucas: I know, if I put 1000, the bank will give me 5 dollars a year.
Me: That's right. If you put for 10 years, you will get 50 dollars.
Lucas: No, that would be so boring. I can't see my money for a long time.

What can I make up of him and money??
